LO1: Analysis of yahoo.com


b) Visitor Needs:  When going onto the Yahoo website, the needs for the visitors is to read up on the news that's more gossip rather than the main news stories. The kind of stories that appear on this website are generally easier to read and are less intellectual compared to the BBC's.


c) Information Flow/User Experience: On the Yahoo website, the information is layer out in a very confusing manner. There are titles, video links, blog links and images stuck all over the home page. The only thing to guide you is a navigation bar at the side of the page, which helps re-direct you to the different parts of the site like mail and sports.



d) Features: Yahoo's website https://uk.yahoo.com/ does have lots of features. However, these features are not very well presented on the website. There are certainly more genres of information on Yahoo compared with its competitiors like the BBC. The celebrity pages give it a unique advantage and makes the website appealing to a more younger audience with articles on bands like One Direction.


e) Benefits: The benefits of the Yahoo website is that the users can access a range of news stories from a variety of categories. These news stories are involve ones you wouldn't expect to see on sites such as the BBC's or The Guardian's.


f) Content: The content of the UK Yahoo website (https://uk.yahoo.com/) is mainly news and information with links to different websites tailored to your tastes or browsing history. On the front page you are greeted with current news stories. However there are separate parts of Yahoo that are on a navigation bar on the left hand side of the page. These include Yahoo Mail, Sport, Finance and Celebrity.
